The actual Island is bordered by the Atlantic on the East and a tidal marsh (creek) to its West, making this a fishermen's paradise. You can rent kayaks from Pawleys Island Kayaks and paddle through the creek or hang your fishing pole over the North Causeway to see if the fish are biting. Be sure to watch for the Shrimp man during shrimp season, he will park on the corner in the parking lot of Pawleys Island Supply and sell FRESH shrimp by the is a local and visitor favorite---they always taste great and the price is unbeatable!
Be sure to take a drive 15 minutes South, to the historic seaport City of Georgetown. Every October the city puts on a wonderful WOODEN BOAT SHOW where thousands flock to see unique boats from all over as well as watch wooden boats being built. It's a super family event.
