The Barefoot Bungalow is located on the Colorado River in Matagorda Texas. The house features a large open living area and kitchen. There is a large bedroom with 2 bunk beds , twin on top and full on bottom, and a small sleeping area with a full bed, as well as a full sized sleeper sofa. Bath towels and all linens are provided, just bring towels for the beach.
Cold a/c will keep you nice and cool between fishing trips.
You can enjoy fishing day and night on the private lighted pier. For boaters, there is easy access to both East and West Matagorda bays. We are located on a private road, so you don't have to worry about cars speeding by like the busy main beach road. Beautiful Matagorda beach is just a short 5 minute drive away. The public boat ramp at Riverbend is only about half a mile away.
The patio area below the house is concreted and always cool and breezy. Perfect for family gatherings, grilling, or a good crawfish, shrimp or crab boil. Be sure to bring string and chicken necks, the crabs are always biting off the pier.
For nature lovers, the birds are always enjoyable! Many species can be seen from the deck, including pelicans, herons, gulls, pipers and if you're lucky maybe even a Bald Eagle!
The house faces West bay, and in the evening the sunsets are beautiful. Bring your kayak and paddle out through St Mary's bayou , you can follow the marked kayak trails to East Bay. There is something for every one in Matagorda!
